Swarm Studios Selwyn is a family-owned and operated Hip Hop studio, located in Rolleston.

At Swarm Studios we train and inspire people to be the best version of themselves, predominantly through dance, music and community. Our strength is hip-hop dance classes with a focus on strengthening techniques that support this style. We provide classes for students as young as 3 years, right through to adult beginners.

OUR CLASSES

What’s the ONE thing that preschool-aged kids aged 3-5 years old all LOVE to do? Dance! We offer an exciting preschool program, Tiny Talents - Dancely. This will have your adorable little ones bouncing, shaking, and smiling with delight! And unlike other preschool programs, ours features brand new original music by award-winning songwriters, and special choreography specially designed for your little ones.
This class creates an encouraging and fun environment for students to learn the basics and foundations of hip-hop, and also allows them an opportunity to freestyle and create their own moves. This class will see your child gain confidence while building their dance and hip-hop skills.
The aim of this class is to build students' technique, focusing on posture, character and groove in order to give them good hip-hop foundations and see them grow as dancers.
This class is suitable for beginners but will also push those who have some dance experience. Tweens learn new choreography each fortnight, plus have the chance to meet new friends while building their foundational hip hop skills.
This class is suitable for teens who are beginner hip-hop dancers or those who have had a bit of dance experience. This class focuses on building confidence and skill in dance, while learning new choreography.

GIVE IT GO!!!!! We love teaching beginners at Swarm Studios, it's a fantastic place to start with a super fun, encouraging environment. ABC (Adult Beginners Class) is for anyone over 18 years old. It’s never too late to learn something new! Plus it’s a great work out & great way to meet other beginner dancers.
We offer a variety of open classes that are catered towards more intermediate to advanced dancers. In these classes we teach more choreography and focus on execution of movement. Structured for those who want to challenge themselves and grow as dancers.
This class focuses on the foundations of hip hop movement. It's a great way to upskill quickly by understanding different aspects of your body and how they can be used in hip hop. This is super important for dancers to establish basic movements and grooves that will help them execute choreography well.
Throughout the year, we offer various advanced training, performance, and crew opportunities to train and grow together. These are via audition only, so keep an eye out on our social media for info on when these auditions are happening!

Here at Swarm Studios we respect others. We carry a high admiration for the studio and everyone involved. This is shown through encouraging and celebrating other dancers, listening to our tutors, keeping our space clean and tidy and returning to our trainings having practiced what we’ve done in class.
Time is important to us because we can achieve more and grow faster when we focus our time effectively. We endeavour to be on time to every training and communicate if we are going to be late. We use our time at the studio wisely by staying focused and practicing even when we are not asked. We also use our time at home to create good habits and make ourselves the best that we can.
Honour is the quality of knowing and doing what is morally right. We value honour at Swarm Studios because we want to be the best version of ourselves. This means we don’t gossip, we always uplift and encourage others and we are kind to ourselves and our growth within our craft.
